Dear Nicholas,

Senator Rand Paul has prepared a video detailing what you and I need to do in the crucial months ahead.

You may have seen it already, but if you haven’t, I hope you will take just a moment to watch it by clicking here.

And if you have, could you help spread the word by forwarding this email to your friends and family?

Every view will help build support for the Life at Conception Act, a simple bill that effectively bypasses Roe v. Wade to ultimately end abortion-on-demand in our nation.

Click here to watch the short video now.

For Life,

Jenni

RE: Prayer and Fasting Opportunity for our Country and the World

Dear Friends of the Renewal,

Greetings to all in this time of political uncertainty and confusion. I, perhaps like many of you are at odds with where our country and the world has taken us with its circumstances and values. So, in an attempt to respond in faith, I am proposing the following opportunity for one and all, to participate either privately, communally (or in some combination) to put focus and action to our faith, by way of prayer and fasting. On that note, for the next three (3) weeks beginning this Sunday January 17, 2021, I am inviting all to consider joining me in saying periodic prayers and a form of fasting (if possible) as a heartfelt way of reaching out to God in prayer and sacrifice for our country and the world at large.

Further, to bring some continuity to this effort I will be hosting, for the next 3 Sundays, a half hour Zoom Session at 7-7:30 PM (CST) beginning on January 17th for virtual Praise and Worship for anyone interested in a virtual gathering. I will also try to post the completed Sunday sessions on our crmemphis.com website for those not able to log into the actual session.

By putting our faith to action in this, as well as many other ways, I am convinced that peace of mind and heart will prevail in each of us during these troubled times. So, if you feel as I do, please make some testimony of your faith to our Trinitarian Father, Son and Holy Spirit over the next few weeks.

Below are some thoughts to consider as you develop your personal prayer plan.

What is the connection between prayer and fasting?

  • Prayer along with fasting seems to indicate the sincerity of the people praying and the critical nature of the situations in which they find themselves. The more critical the situation, the more appropriate the fasting and prayer.
  • Consider the events of recent times for a focal point…
  1. Meditate over Scripture. You can follow a Bible study guide or turn through the pages of your Bible in whatever way you feel called to do.
  2. Pray the Rosary, your personal prayers, and/or scripted prayers.
  3. Takethe opportunity to go to Confession and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
  4. Attend Daily Mass and Receive the Eucharist.
  5. Attend at least a weekly hour of personal Adoration at a local Catholic Church.

Determine the type and extent of fasting that applies to you.

What are the Catholic guidelines for meal fasting?

  • For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.

Prayer for Our Country and the World

  • Dear Lord, Be close to our president and our statesmen; and the future of the world especially in this period of transition of power. Make me more deeply aware of my heritage; and responsibilities as a citizen and the restoring of all things in Christ. Amen.
